I attended this last Chariots of War Xena convention over the weekend of the 12-14th July, 2002. The Guests included Melinda Clark, Tim Omundson, Claire Stansfield, Adrienne Wilkinson, Paris Jefferson and Hudson Leick. All the guests gave marvellous talks on stage covering a wide variety of questions. Several of the ‘performances’ were well above the call of duty!
Several highlights include Tim & Claire appearing as British punk rockers complete with appropriate costumes, Tim and Claire subsequently swapping costumes! Hudson & Melinda appearing on stage dressed as a Fury and wood nymph respectively (costumes taken from the Fancy Dress competition). Adrienne singing a short song beautifully. Claire showing a personal film she’s made using action figures from the show involving Alti and Callisto falling in love - very surreal! (I bought a copy and got it autographed!)
I also attended the Friday night cocktail party where the Guests mingled with about 170 attendee’s.
There was a fancy dress competition on the Saturday night, with just over 30 entries. All were marvellous and the Guests all took it in turn to interact with the contestants. Tim in particular was great, he’s such a nice guy :) The competition was won by Ares although I think my choice would have gone to the three Furies who gave a fantastic performance.
The Guests all autographed the photographs that the attendee’s had taken with them, plus there were autograph sessions where you could get personal items signed. I was fortunate to get autographed wallpapers off all the Guests, including two from Hudson (she volunteered to sign an extra one for me)
I also had the pleasure of meeting several other ‘members’ of the Xena binaries newsgroup, including Misty, Philippa, Paul Hilling, Brian Aitken, Joanne Aitken and Tane. Most of us wore special ABMX-H badges so we could spot each other! I got recognised by a few people who spoke to me, namely Bruce (Scottish?), Andros (Belgian?) and a female friend of his (name not spotted...). Thanks for your thanks :)
